The Ellistown U14's made it four wins out of four in the Championship after a visit to Castlemitchell this morning. Ellistown got in the groove early and had built up a useful lead by half-time. The scoreboard by no means reflected the quality of Castlemitchell's football, however, they have a young side that displayed excellent handling and team skills throughout. On this occasion though Ellistown just had a bit too much firepower in the scoring zone, but well done to both teams for putting on such an entertaining and well contested encounter. ... Congratulations to the Senior Boys football team from Scoil Bhride Lackagh who this afternoon defeated Staplestown NS in the final of the Cuman Na Bunscoil competition in Moorefield. The match was very well contested throughout and was only decided towards the end when the team with a firm "Made in Ellistown" stamp found the insurance scores. Final score was 3-7 to 0-6. Captain David Dunne received the trophy and gave an excellent speech to the large gathered crowd. Well done all, including Messrs Hickey, Kavanagh and Melia for coaching the team! ... A different day a different game as the Ellistown U14's hosted Grange in a repeat of last weeks Feile final. The boys were in a determined mood right from the off and put the visitors under serious pressure and Ellistown were deservedly 7 points up at the break. Grange played some nice football through the hands but the Ellistown defence held firm tonight. Scores started to flow at the other end as the forwards got in on the act. A fantastic performance by the lads, comprehensively reversing the Feile final result by 6-10 to 1-7, super stuff. ... See MoreSee Less

The presence of a school to small country clubs in Kildare has never been more important. Lackagh NS is a vital part of our future as many of the boys and girls who attend there choose Ellistown as their GAA club. Here's our Coaching and Development Officer, Liam Melia, presenting the school with some footballs and bibs to keep the children busy during school time!

The Senior Boys football team at Lackagh have reached the final of the Cumanns Na Bunscoil competition. The team is packed with Ellistown players, and if you are free please come down to support, throw in is 4.30pm in Moorefield on Thursday 25th May, sure to be a great atmosphere as always on these occasions!

Ellistown played Naas 2 in the div 4 league final in Hawkfield on Saturday evening. The first half was very evenly contested with play flowing up and down the pitch. Ellistown got off the mark with an Alice Breen goal followed by points by Chloe Heffernan and Fiadh Whiteley. Naas then struck for their first goal and indeed added 2 more in the first half. Ellistown for their part added 5 more points in the first half, 2 from the boot of Melissa Scully, 1 from Shannon Scully and 1 each from Fiadh and Alice. Then just before half time Abbie Donnelly struck for another goal to leave the half time score 2-7 to 3-1 in favour of Ellistown. On the resumption Ellistown seemed to settle to their task with renewed vigour knowing what this Naas team were capable of and the defence were in defiant humour led by the brilliant Sinead Bracken and Caoimhe Whiteley. Muireann Ures had been drafted into defence also to curb one of the Naas goal scorers. Emma Bracken played a captains role throughout covering every blade of grass in hawkfield and thwarting attack after attack. The fact that Naas only added one point in the second half says it all in relation to how the Ellistown defensive unit performed. Lauren Morrissey was solid in goals and made 2 great saves in the second half and her kickouts invariably found Ellistown players. Ailish O'loughlin and Mairead Scully also put their shoulders to the wheel in defence and answered any questions that were asked of them. Kate O'loughlin working as a defensive midfielder did a mountain of work as always. Fiadh added 1-1 early in the second half to put some " daylight " between the teams and from here there was going to be no turning back. Fiadh found the net again shortly afterwards and then 4 points from play on the trot from the stylish Kelly O'Brien sealed Naas' fate. Chloe Heffernan pointed again but having picked up a back injury early in the league and subsequently missing several matches today was a real return to form for her working tirelessly around the middle and using her ball carrying ability to great effect. Shannon likewise, while not getting on the score sheet in the second half, did a ton of work and continuessly tormented that Naas defence. Alice finished the scoring with a point from full forward. As always throughout this league the Ellistown subs were invaluable to the cause with Aoife Sloane and Ella Moore assisting the forwards and Jess Martin coming on to do battle in defence. Naas for their part never gave up the fight and their commitment could not be faulted, and while today was not to be their day they ensured that the game was played in a very sporting fashion and they were a credit to their club and coaches. The fact that Naas had 2 teams in finals in Hawkfield today is testament to the trojan work that's going on in the club.Final score Ellistown 4-14 Naas 3-2, a truly memorable day for Ellistown
