U16 Ladies League

26th February 2017

Ellistown: 4 - 9

Castlemitchell: 5 - 2

Ellistown under sixteen girls played their second league game at home against Castlemitchell this morning. The visiting side started very well and before long had registered 2 goals to no score and at that point the signs were ominous for Ellistown. They stuck to their task well though and at half time led by 2-3 to 2-0 thanks to tigerish defending by Abbie Donnelly, Aoife O'loughlin and Mairead Scully among others. In the second half the game ebbed and flowed with both teams playing with 12 players on a big pitch in very heavy conditions. The home team had the advantage as the game wore on though using their panel to relieve tiring players, with the visiting side only having 12 available for selection. The final score was 4-9 to 5-2 with Ellistown grinding out a well deserved victory. Notable performances in the second half came from Ella Moore, Aoife Sloane and Fiadh Whiteley
