Ladies SFL Div 4

8th March 2017

Ellistown: 2 - 01

Milltown: 3 - 10

Ellistown Senior Ladies took to the field last night against a strong Milltown side in very heavy underfoot conditions. From the throw in, Milltown took control of the game but with a number of missed chances, failed to make their possession count. The Ellistown backs were absorbing alot of pressure, only conceding 1 point in the first 10 mins. From a free kick and a deflection Ellistowns Sarah Kelly (on her debut) put the ball in the back of the net. However, Milltown continued to press forward and the pressure eventually told, they got their just deserved and a goal of their own. Some very good goal keeping by Ellistown's Gemma Donnelly prevented 2 other goal chances. Milltown added 4 more points and at half time the scoreline was Milltown 1.5 to Ellistown 1.1. The 2nd half continued with Milltown exerting alot of pressure on the Ellistown backline and added another goal to their tally early in the Second half. Some great defensive work from both teams and great skill on show considering the conditions non other than Ellistowns Louise Scully running the length of the pitch to score and excellent goal. A fantastic team performance from our Ellistown girls (while a number of them playing their 1st game last night in a number of years) never game up and battled till the final whistle. Team - Gemma Donnelly (captain), Louise Scully, Shannon Scully, Laura Cullen, Muireann Scully, Melissa Scully, Emily Whelan, Maggie Cullen, Sarah Kelly, Aoife Kelly, Kate OLoughlin, Caoimhe Whiteley, Clodagh OLoughlin, Ailish OLoughlin, Aidedn Grey, Amber Ellis , Enma Bracken and Audrey Neilson.
